Classic Galapagos Hotel Based Package

Today our Galapagos hotel based tour starts! After a morning flight from Ecuador Mainland, we arrive at Baltra Ecological airport. Just on our way to Itabaca channel, we might be able to see land iguanas and frigate birds, the first peek of Galapagos wildlife!

Before even arriving in Puerto Ayora, (located one hour and 15 minutes away from the airport) we will make a stop in the highlands of Santa Cruz, first to see the twins, two massive craters next to each other, where we will have the chance to trek around their rims. Later on, we will visit one of the ranches where the giant tortoises can be observed in their natural habitat.To end this great day we will see the Charles Darwin Station to learn about conservation and see the famous Lonesome George!

To make the most out of our time in Santa Cruz, we will visit one of the closest islands, all options offer great chances to see different species of wildlife. Depending on the date of your tour the possibilities are North Seymour, Plazas, Santa Fe, Bartolome or Chinese Hat.

Awarded as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Tortuga Bay is perfect to enjoy the last morning on Santa Cruz Island. Surfboards are available for rent in town to take advantage of the waves here, or you can simply relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery and the abundant wildlife. Tortuga Bay is a self-guided and optional visit.

In the afternoon we will take a 2-hour fast boat to Isabela Island, in season it is possible to see whales and dolphins while crossing between these two islands. At our arrival on Isabela Island, we will see several sea lions laying on the sand. The sunset at Isabela Island is out of this world!

In the morning we will head to the Tortoise Breeding Center, at the beginning of the trail we will see a iguana crossing point, so careful of where you step, the place is full of them! A wooden path goes through the wetlands, where the flamingos can be found. At the end of the road we will arrive at the Fausto Llerena breeding center, hosting several different species of Giant tortoises in all life stages, and that means also babies!

Later in the afternoon, your land based Galapagos package takes you to the white sand beach to jump into the kayaks and paddle our way to the Tintoreras islet. The current is not strong, so the paddling is pleasant and it gives the chance to see the playful sea lions swimming up close. Once we get close enough to the rocks, we adjust our fins and mask and jump into the water to snorkel. Small penguins can be easily spotted taking a sunbath on the rocks while we swim.

Today we are in for a treat! Just an hour away from Puerto Villamil, we find the lava tunnels, with water so clear that even from the boat it is possible to see the bottom of the ocean, and all the life within it. On the way there, there are great chances to see giant rays, blue-footed boobies, and pelicans. The main attraction of the day, besides the rich marine life and the amazing snorkeling, are the lava formations that simulate tunnels inside the water where sharks have their caves.

Lava tunnels are the best place to snorkel for beginners due to its calm waters, and for nature lovers for the many endemic species that can be found in this area, and of course a great addition to a Galapagos hotel based package. After lunch on board of our boat, we head to the land portion of the tour, where it is possible to see blue-footed boobies nesting.

Isabela deserves a free morning to enjoy its beach, you can decide what to do this day, although the sand and sea seem tempting enough. After lunch, we will take the boat to Santa Cruz Island where your Galapagos hotel based tour will continue.

In the afternoon, we will head to visit las Grietas. To get to this enigmatic stop we will walk through a coral beach known as the German's Beach, later the trail passes by lagoons where many shorebirds rest, and finally we descent to the middle of this huge cliff to a channel of water where marine life is abundant, this is one of the best places to practice your snorkeling skills.

Today we decide the way to enjoy the day. We can visit one of the closest islands to Santa Cruz on a tour, we can go diving, or just enjoy the town. The beauty of the Galapagos can be found even in the fishermen dock where many sea lions and pelicans gather to see what they can get from that day's catch. Last morning in the Galapagos islands as part of our hotel based trip, we will take the last photos before starting the way back to Baltra airport with our guide, and on time to catch our flight back to Ecuador Mainland.
