Ecuador, and its amazing cloud forest is a paradise for birdwatchers, our Ecuador Birding tour offers the chance to explore areas with about 330 different species of birds, many of which are more easily found here than anywhere else in the world. Our Ecuador bird watching trip will take place at about 2,050 meters above sea level, but the trails lead through habitats from 2,400 meters all the way down to 1,900 meters. this translates into ideal sceneraries for birding and to observe Andean birds from the lower reaches of the temperate zone down into the heart of the subtropical zone, if you are a birder do come and join our Ecuador Bird watching trip, a unique experience that no birder should miss!
Early in the morning, we leave from Quito into the cloud forest, we will go through the paramo highlands of the Andes to the Papallacta pass, this will be our first stop to check many species of endemic birds. We have a warm and delicious meal waiting for us at Guango Lodge.
After lunch, we will see thousands of hummingbird’s species in the birdfeeders. Have seen the best of Guango, we will head to San Isidro to spend a magical night.

With the first sunshine, we will head to look for the hungry eaters, such as; Montana and Olive-backed Woodcreepers, Golden-crowned Flycatcher, Rufous-crowned Tody-Flycatcher.
A delicious lunch to recover our strength and we will see the paths around the lodge to discover a bit more of the flora of the surroundings to continue with our specialized bird watching tour.

We will get up early and head to the Loreto Road (or to Coca Falls) where we will spend the day birding at this scenic zone. In the eastern foothills, the birding possibilities really wide with new sets of tanagers, antbirds, and others. Considering that, this is one of the most biologically diverse spots on the planet we will want to spend a full day exploring these rich forested slopes.
Assuming weather cooperates, we will have a long list of potential species we can observe as part of this Ecuador bird watching trip.

A morning birding the beautiful Guacamayos ridge trail – only about 20 minutes from the lodge by vehicle, where some of the birds we hope to see include Green-and-black Fruiteater, Handsome Flycatcher, Rufous Wren, Turquoise Jay, Grass-green Tanager, a few species of skulking tapaculos (and maybe even an Ocellated) and Northern Mountain-Cacique.
The forest here is simply enchanting and unique which no birder would want to miss.

Depending on the guide’s plan for the day, we may bird in the morning and enjoy one last meal at Cabañas San Isidro, or choose to bring along a box lunch for our birding drive back to Quito to give us a chance at cleaning-up some of the missed species we had searched for on the first day.
